Stipends and Vacancies

10 CZI travel stipends for Latvian and Lithuanian medical researchers to visit our imaging core.

Up to 1000 EUR travel stipends should cover the travel and accommodation costs in Tartu during one week plus we will give free access to our core and confocal microscopes for up to one week.  To apply please submit a cover letter that includes short statement of your imaging interests and a CV. Applications will be considered until the position is filled.

CZI-funded researcher position in Biomedical Imaging

We seek a researcher/postdoctoral fellow for our Core Facility of Biomedical Imaging at the Medical Faculty (Core).

We expect the researcher to spend around 50-75% of the time on imaging/image analysis-related research and 25-50% of the time on supporting action. The research project of the applicant will be related to subcellular imaging (ER to mitochondrial calcium fluxes, ATP, NADH, ROS, mitochondrial fusion-fission, mitophagy, ER-phagy, MAMs, organelle dynamics) and its main aim is to find tools to restore the MAM function in MAM-related neurodegenerative diseases.

The research will be supervised by professor Allen Kaasik (see publication list below). The researcher will also have to work closely with the users and our support staff of the Core facility to help with quantitative image analysis, covering a wide variety of biological samples and image types, including confocal, Airyscan/PALM and multiphoton imaging. The postdoc should also provide training to all users on image analysis software such as Imaris, Fiji, Arivis, Neurolucida, and Visiopharm.

The applicant should have Ph.D. in Biology, Biochemistry, Optical Physics, or another imaging-related field and have experience in confocal microscopy and/or image analysis.

The two-year position will be supported by the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative. The starting date is as soon as possible. The salary will be 30 000 - 36 000 EUR per annum, depending on qualification and experience.

Contact for further information: Prof. Allen Kaasik, E-Mail: allen.kaasik@ut.ee

Interested applicants should submit a cover letter that includes short statement of their research interests and the contact information for two references, and a complete CV. Applications will be considered until the position is filled.
